The amber colored essential oil of Davana which is distilled from the aerial parts of the herb Artemsia pallens grown extensively in South India radiates and intensely sweet, sharp, herbaceous, wine-like aroma with a delightful fruity-balsamic undertone. The tenacity is very good. This fine oil is relatively unknown to natural perfumers but has tremendous attraction for those who have studied it through the different phases of its aromatic life span.

1. Davanone, Davan-Ether, Davana Furane and linalool are the major constituents of davana oil. Methyl cinnamate, ethyl cinnamate, bicyclogermacrene, davana ether, 2-hydroxyisodavanone, farnesol, geranyl acetate, sequiterpene lactones, germacranolides, etc. are also found
2. Davana oil is soothing to rough, dry, chapped skin, skin infections and cuts.
3. Commonly offered along with other flowers in temple worship of South India
4. The dried and powdered herb has been used as a sachet for protecting garmets from insect infestation
